I have an unhealthy obsession with The Hold Steady, but was not thrilled with Craig Finn’s first solo album, Clear Heart Full Eyes. I was thus VERY excited when his 2nd solo outing, Faith in the Future, turned out to be fantastic. It features some of the best storytelling Finn has ever done. Familiar themes of desperate people, religious imagery, etc… He played two songs, Maggie I’ve Been Searching for Our Son, and Newmyers Roof, on Late Night. Good performances, but definitely check out the fuller, more polished album versions.
